Join us for this free community event with Oliver Dante, Tai Chi instructor. Nonmembers and YMCA members are welcome to join us!
The class will be from 12:00pm-1:00pm with a Q&A to follow. Both long-time practitioners of Tai-Chi as well as newcomers will enjoy this class!
About Tai Chi:
Tai Chi is an ancient tradition of exercise with meaning and depth beyond what can be seen at first glance. On this surface it is a low impact exercise system that can be practiced anywhere at any time. It has been proven to improve circulation, combat arthritis and promote brain health. But, to spite is slow deliberate movements it is at it core a martial arts system that can be used to protect one's self under a variety of conditions.
Beneath the surface it builds on internal energy which improves quality of life and give you intent and focus to accomplish more than you have been able to previously. Further still, it is an living exercise of philosophy, each movement teaching us a truth that can be carried from the training floor out into everyday life. Regardless of your interest in traditional exercises, Tai Chi has something for you.
About the instructor:
Oliver Dante is a 20th Generation Plum-Blossom First, a 6th Generation Zen Gate, and first apprentice of Zhang ZhiYong. Trained all over China in various arts, Oliver has earned the titles of warrior and monk. Well versed in both eastern and western philosophies, he specializes in human development and has helped people from 3 months old to 80 years old find the best parts of themselves through personal exploration.
