Afterschool Counselor

Provides direction for the program and classroom, and implements program curriculum. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. Afterschool sites are available at the Wilmington Family YMCA, Midtown YMCA, Parsley Elementary, Castle Hayne Elementary, and Coastal Preparatory Academy Charter School. Available hours are Monday through Friday from as early as 2pm to as late as 6pm and as needed for Teacher Workdays and Holidays. May also provide support in other areas as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.

Aquatics Director

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Oversees and coordinates the recruitment, training, scheduling, certification, and performance of employees in department; supervises the day-to-day activities of staff.
  2. Oversees and manages an Aquatics team that includes; Supervisor of our Swim Team, Assistant Aquatics Coordinator, Swim lesson coordinator, City Pool coordinator and other Aquatics Staff to run Aquatics operations.
  3. Ensures that all appropriate water, environmental, health and safety standards are maintained; ensures pools are compliant with all local, state and national requirements and current on all necessary certifications required for operation.
  4. Responsible for recruitment of new members and participants through innovative aquatic programming that reflects the mission of current and future programs

Assistant Swim Coach

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Y is a leading nonprofit for strengthening community, and the nation’s larger provider of swim lessons to increase skill and safety in and around water. This position provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Effectively communicate the mission, vision and the values of the YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina
  2. Ensure the swim team complies with YMCA standards and methods of operation
  3. Ensure the swim team complies with USA Swimming standards and methods of operation
  4. Integrate member-service and engagement strategies into all interactions with parents to ensure positive team recruitment and retention
  5. Promote, build and expand the program enrollment and participation and support all YMCA programming.
  6. Support, develop and show measure success at coaching groups for intro groups and assisting with age group swimmers and senior swimmers with the team director to identify direction and objective for each group.   7. On Deck Coaching responsibilities will start at 4:00PM and end at 8:00PM Monday – Friday

CDL Bus Driver

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides safe transportation to and from program sites while maintaining a supportive and positive atmosphere. Transportation needs include driving for Summer Camp (Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 4:30 throughout the summer), driving for Afterschool (Monday through Friday from 1:45 to anywhere from 3:00 to 6:00) and a partnership with GLOW Academy in which we transport students to and from school (Monday through Friday from 7:30 to 9:15am and 3:45 to 5:30pm). May also provide support in other areas as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Drives bus safely according to YMCA policies and procedures and state laws.
  2. Completes thorough before-and-after trip checks each day and record all information. Records gas level, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms. Cleans out bus each day.
  3. Promotes safety at all times by keeping first aid supplies fully stocked.
  4. Ensures that bus rules are announced and followed.
  5. Develops friendly and positive relationships among staff, volunteers, parents, and children.

  1. Does schedule for the Lifeguard shifts at the YMCA.
  2. Assist City Pool Director with hiring and training of Lifeguards.
  3. To be on call for the YMCA when guards are not be to attend shift.
  4. To assist City Pool Director with monthly in-service for Lifeguards.
  5. To help with administration duties while at Desk in the Pool area.
  6. Maintains constant surveillance of the pool area.

Healthy Living Director

Job Description

Under the supervision of Branch Director and in collaboration with the Member Service and Engagement Director the Healthy Living Director fulfills the vision for member engagement and quality programming in the areas of Wellness, Group Exercise, Personal Training and Evidence Based Impact Programs. This position is responsible for managing those functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university in exercise science or related field preferred
  • Must have experience in recruiting, training and motivating people and must understand the importance of retention.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills must have been obtained and demonstrated through past job experiences.
  • Possess the appropriate certifications and training in order to teach and direct a variety of wellness programs.
  • Strong understanding of technically and implementation with software systems such as, Group X pro, Y-zone, Scheduling system, TV configuration etc..
  • Ability to adapt to change quickly, work under stressful conditions on a regular basis, and take the responsibility for the health and safety of others.
  • Be experienced and passionate about member engagement and developing member wellness goals.

Assists in all aspects of membership for the branch including recruitment of new members, retention of existing members and providing the highest quality service to members and the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provides excellent service to members, guests and program participants in the branch and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
  2. Lead prospective members on tours; sells memberships
  3. Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and to the Y.
  4. Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
  5. Applies all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
  6. Able to handle money, process payments and balance cash drawer.
  7. Ability to communicate and work with other departments.
  8. Handle additional tasks as needed.

Outdoor Pool Manager
