PAL Hoops Program Expands to YMCA
The Wilmington Police Department and the Wilmington Family YMCA have joined forces and are expanding the Police Activities League (PAL) Teen Night Hoops Program to the YMCA gym on Market Street. The program expansion will help to provide more positive activities on Wilmington’s Northside for teens.

“We believe that partnerships like this will help us to reduce crime among our community’s youth and enhance police community relations” said Ralph Evangelous, Wilmington Police Chief. “The Wilmington Family YMCA is a valuable community partner.”
“The Wilmington Family YMCA is dedicated to youth development for all children. Partnering with the Wilmington Police Department and the PAL program provides our organization the ability to help hands on with the problem of teen crime and gangs. We believe the PAL program can make a difference for at-risk teens and we are honored to take part in the program and be a positive influence in the lives of young people in our community.” Said Dick Jones, Wilmington Family YMCA CEO.
PAL Teen Night is held bi-weekly on Saturday nights for youth ages 13-17 years of age, from 7pm-11pm. The program is currently offered at the City of Wilmington’s Martin Luther King Center on N. 8th Street. PAL Teen Night officially begins at the YMCA on Saturday, September 24 at 7pm.
