To help you get to know us a little better, we have decided to start an employee spotlight for both our Midtown YMCA and Express Y branches! This month, learn more about Y staff members below:

How long have you been with the Y?
What's your favorite thing about working for the Y?
I love watching the kids I work with grow up. From watching some of them go off to college or coaching some for the first time in our Itty Bitty Soccer Program seeing them grow and progress is definitely an awesome experience. I can even remember when a few of my kids were born.
What's your Y story?
After I graduated I moved to Wilmington to get a change of scenery. I eventually started working for the Membership Department part time through a Vocational Rehabilitation Internship due to some medical problems I was having. It ended up being a good fit and I was hired after my trial period ended. I split time between Membership and the Sports Department. I was very comfortable at the YMCA decided this is where I need to be. When the opportunity presented itself to become a part of the Soccer Department I was thrilled to be doing what I am passionate about and haven’t looked back since.
What would you like Y members to know about you?
I’m originally from Mathews County Virginia and I graduated from Old Dominion University in 2010 with BS in Sociology with a Minor in History
How do you like to spend your spare time?
Thankfully I get to do what I love. My life revolves around soccer. When I am not working most of the time I am still doing something involving the sport.
