To help you get to know us a little better, we have decided to start an employee spotlight to highlight some of our team members:
Since January of 1992 … a long time! (But Natasha is new to the YMCA of Southeastern NC!)
What's your favorite thing about working for the Y?
Every day this organization has a chance to help one person get one step closer to their goals … be it through providing child care for a parent who wants to get healthier, a social place for a senior to make a friend, a child to learn a skill through sports or swim .. the Y provides that opportunity daily .. for everyone – not many places can say that.
What's your Y story?
I began as a Volunteer in a Special Needs Swim & Gym Program where I eventually became the Coordinator – watching those children socially interact with the volunteers, with each other, have fun … learn to swim .. I’ve had some of the best moments of my life with that program. It’s a perfect example of what a Y can be. Through that program I’ve made life-long friends – I even had participants and their families at my wedding – that program helped me be the person I am today
What would you like Y members to know about you?
I will be training for the Y’s Sprint Triathlon in September and my goal is a full marathon in 2019 …. So if you see me around the Y – any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated! I look forward to bringing out-of-the-box programming to your Y. Look for social gatherings, health seminars/workshops and other engagement opportunities. But I want YOUR ideas – programs, activities, social gatherings – let’s get you connected with other members who have your interests! And lastly, I’m also looking for VOLUNTEERS – anyone who can bring their passion, time or treasure to help our Y be everything it can be … and more! Let’s get you giving back to the community that you are a part of – it will make you feel GREAT. I promise.
How do you like to spend your spare time? (Do you have spare time?)
I have SOME spare time! J My 2, 4 and 15 year old keep me on my toes! I was lucky enough to have parents that traveled all over the world with my sister and I and although we haven’t traveled out of the country lately, I enjoy bringing my children to new places and exploring whenever time permits. I look forward to going on adventures throughout Wilmington and North Carolina with my family! And if you have a favorite place to eat, please let me know as we LOVE finding new places to eat – the more exotic, the better!
