The Nir Family YMCA will unveil its new Imagination Playground™ at the Nir Family YMCA on Wednesday, January 16th from 9:30am-10:30am.  The Imagination Playground ™ features a collection of oversized blue foam parts that allows children to build and re-build play structures with their imaginations. Play is central to a child’s ability to grow into a productive adult. It can transform children from sedentary, bored and solitary to physically, mentally and socially active.

Kids 12 months and older, and their caregivers, are invited to “unwrap” the new play equipment and be the first to interact and play with it. This event is FREE and open to anyone in the community.

The innovative play equipment has been generously donated by The CarMax Foundation and national non-profit KaBOOM!. Together, they are helping Wilmington encourage play everywhere, making it easier for kids to get the childhood they deserve, one filled with balanced and active play, so they can thrive.

“We very excited that the Nir Family YMCA will be able to provide this unique play experience to the children enrolled in our programs and to the Greater Wilmington community,” said Sarah Gibbs, Director of Financial Development & Marketing for the YMCA.

This is the 36th Imagination Playground that The CarMax Foundation has donated in conjunction with KaBOOM!. The CarMax Foundation supports KaBOOM! in ensuring that all kids get the balanced and active play they need to thrive.
