The YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina will be expanding its Afterschool Care program to Brunswick County in opening a new location at Lifepoint Church Leland this schoolyear.

Lifepoint Church has been serving the Leland community for several years and recently partnered with the YMCA in 2018, to host a summer camp site. Lifepoint is building a new site at 725 Reed Rd. Leland which will serve as the Y’s newest afterschool location for the 2019-2020 school year.

The Brunswick County Afterschool Care will pick up from Belville Elementary, Lincoln Elementary and Town Creek Elementary. The program will operate until 6:00pm each day that schools is in session. Additionally, the YMCA of Southeastern NC proudly serves the students and families of New Hanover County at six different locations including Nir Family YMCA, Midtown YMCA, Edge Sports Center, Castle Hayne Elementary, Parsley Elementary, and Wrightsville Beach Elementary.

In total, the YMCA provides afterschool programming to 36 elementary and middle schools in New Hanover and Brunswick counties.

Every day, the YMCA of Southeastern NC works to support the people and neighborhoods that need it most through community programs, service, and outreach – such as providing safe and supportive environments for children and teens during out of school time, offering inclusive programming to help individuals become more confident, connected, and independent, and providing financial assistance for families and individuals to be able to participate in Y membership, programs, and services.

“We are thrilled to expand our reach to serve our community in Brunswick County,” said Corey Maarschalk, YMCA Youth Services Branch Director. “Allowing more families to have childcare during the after school hours provides a peace of mind for parents and an exciting space for children to learn and grow.”
