Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why this date?
A: We knew we would have additional access to Robert Strange for outdoor swimming and thanks to partnering with the YWCA, we will also have indoor swimming access.
Q: What is the temperature of the Robert Strange pool?
A: The average temperature for the outdoor pool should be between 84-87 degrees depending on rain fall. If the temperature should drop below this range, we will post on our Facebook page.
Or you can call the pool during operation hours: (910)341-7864
Q: Why does it have to be shut down for so long?
A: We need time to complete our process-drain the pool, paint it, let it dry, apply a second coat of paint, let it dry, and repeat for the last coat. The drying time is the lengthy part of the process and we need this time to make sure it dries completely.
Q: When do you need to paint it again?
A: With us taking the time to do additional coats during this shut down week, this process should last 7-10 years.
Q: Why is Robert Strange only open for those specific hours Monday-Friday?
A: This is when the sun rises and set's during this time of year. Also, we need to allot time for the swim team to practice Monday-Saturday.
Q: What about lap lanes and pool equipment at Robert Strange pool?
A: We will have lap lane lines set up and move over our pool equipment over for use.
