To help you get to know us a little better, we have decided to start an employee spotlight to highlight some of our team members:

Lindsay Peiffer

What is your job at the Y?
Girls on the Run & STRIDE Director

How long have you been with the Y?
I’ve worked for the YMCA since 2011, and the YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina since 2017.

What's your favorite thing about coming to our Y?
I love the sense of community that fills the building. All walks of life, all ages, all shapes and size coming together to make the community a better place!

What's your Y story? What initially brought you to the Y?
I walked into a YMCA almost 9 years ago as a joining member and just knew I needed to be a part of what was happening! I handed in an employment application the next day! I’ve worked in the Wellness Department, Membership Department, Child Watch Department and moved to Wilmington 3 years ago to be the Girls on the Run & STRIDE Director.

What do you like to do in your free time (if you have any!)?
As cliché as it sounds… I love working out! I love running in races ranging from 5k’s to Tough Mudders to Ragnars and everything in between! I love being a part of my church. I spent two weeks in Uganda this past summer with Lifepoint Church and the sweet, sweet people of Lagutu and it changed my life!

Hannah Horton

What is your job at the Y?
Youth Services Program Director. I oversee and run both afterschool and summer camp programs at the Midtown Location as well as our Y Guides Program.

How long have you worked at the Y?
5 Years

What is your Y story?
I took an internship about 5 years ago in the healthy living department a the Express Y location. I fell in love with thy and what it is all about. I've held many jobs within the y since, until I landed in the Youth Branch 3 years ago as a full time employee. I love what I do!

What do you like best about the Y?
I love the environment, the people, the sense of community and belonging that you feel when you are here. It has always felt like a second home to me! I of course love "my kids" in camp and after school and how we have the opportunity to be able to impact and develop them each day in a positive way.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy hanging out with my friends, playing beach volleyball, going to the pool or the beach. If it is active and fun, you will find me there!

Cierra Stone

What is your job at the Y?
Assistant Aquatics Coordinator

How long have you been with the Y?
I have been working with the Y since Jan 2019. I started out working as a Membership Representative at the Welcome Desk. When I learned that the Y managed the City Pools, I quickly applied for the Outdoor Pool Manager position for the love of being outside. I then managed Robert Strange Pool as the Site Manager for the Summer of 2019. I then applied for the Assistant Aquatics Coordinator position. You could say I worked my way up the ladder!

What's your favorite thing about coming to our Y?
My favorite thing about the Y is the sense of community among its staff and members. I enjoy being among positive and hard working people. Whether it is the members or my staff, I enjoy watching them grow into amazing people.

What's your Y story? What initially brought you to the Y?
My Y story didn't start until I was hired in January 2019. Ever since I stepped into the Nir Family YMCA, I felt like I was at home. I fell in love with the atmosphere that the Y brings to the community. I can truly say that I wouldn't want to work anywhere else. Once I discovered that the Y cared about me and seeing me grow, I knew that I could care about the Y just as much.

What do you like to do in your free time (if you have any!)?
In my spare time, I am focusing on finishing my Master's Degree in hopes of graduating this winter. My favorite things to do in my time off are to read and write but most importantly, enjoying the sauna at the Nir Family YMCA.
