The YMCA of Southeastern NC and Waves of Wilmington (WOW) announce a new partnership intended to make a positive difference for competitive swimmers in the Greater Wilmington community.
Both the YMCA and WOW share common goals: impacting our community’s health of spirit, mind, and body. Both organizations jointly support the advancement of quality competitive swimming, water safety and ‘Learn to Swim’ programming.
This October the YMCA’s Cape Fear Aquatic Club will merge with WOW, giving swimmers access to new coaches and more practice options. WOW’s Head Coach and COO, Dave Sokolofsky, is looking forward to working with all current and future swim team members. “We are very excited to bring our two outstanding teams under one unified banner and expect this merger to help us provide more opportunities for all involved. This partnership with the YMCA will allow us to expand our reach and positively impact more youth in our community.”
YMCA of Southeastern NC CEO Dick Jones agrees. “We have worked with Dave in the past and know he is an excellent coach who truly cares about the kids. We believe this merger is good for the YMCA and WOW, as well as the community at large.”
Swimming can be a lifetime sport with lifetime benefits. It provides a full body workout, helps maintain a healthy and positive mental outlook, lowers stress levels and can help you sleep.
