Let's Finish Strong

#GivingTuesday is December 1

Published 11.19.20

Most of us can’t wait for 2020 to be over. But we need your help to finish the year strong on #GivingTuesday, December 1.

Now more than ever, the greater Wilmington area needs the Y to be strong, poised to respond to crisis, focused on the community’s needs and positioned for the future.

Our Y suffered a significant economic hit due to suspending Y operations and delivering limited services. Despite the pandemic, our Y was able to spearhead efforts to support our neighbors and those on the front lines of the COVID-19 fight.

  • 59,375 meals delivered to hungry children while schools were out
  • 106 families provided with essential child care
  • 815 calls made to seniors and others at risk to lend help and reduce loneliness
  • 72 units of blood given at blood rives hosted by the YMCA

Give $20 for 2020

If you’ve never given to the Y or you’re a regular donor, we hope you’ll consider pitching in $20 or more to help sustain the Y in the last days of 2020. Every donation will be used to meet the greatest needs of our community and our YMCA. If you can give more, it will make us even stronger.

You don’t have to wait to give. Let’s finish 2020 strong this #GivingTuesday.

We need you to share your YStrong story on #GivingTuesday and beyond. Join us on Facebook and Instagram on December 1. Let's show Wilmington the collective impact of our Y. We’d love to hear how the Y made you or your family strong by participating in the #YStrong Social Challenge. Copy and paste the text below, snap a photo or share an old one, tag us @ymcasenc using the hashtags #GivingTuesday and #YStrong. Feel free to tag Y friends and family to participate as well.

#YStrongChallenge
I was nominated to take the #YStrongChallenge and post one photo of how the YMCA has made me or my family strong with a short explanation. The goal is to flood social media with positive photos of how the YMCA has helped strengthen our community. Copy the text and post a photo that illustrates how the Y has made you or your family strong, then nominate 3 people to take the #YStrongChallenge.
