Free Teen Memberships Available with Continued Coastal Horizon Partnership
In partnership and collaboration with Coastal Horizons, the YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina is providing mental health resources and hosting mental wellness workshops for teenagers ages 13 to 17 years old. Once teens complete one of these workshops, they are eligible for a free YMCA summer membership, valid June 1 to August 31, 2025.
“Coastal Horizons is excited to partner with the YMCA of Southeastern NC to provide vital mental health resources and support to our community's teenagers,” said Elizabeth Redenbaugh, Vice President of Development and External Affairs at Coastal Horizons. “Through our workshops, teens will gain essential skills to thrive, build resilience, and effectively manage stress and challenges in their lives.”
To launch this free summer membership pathway for teens, Coastal Horizons will host three mental wellness workshops. The first workshop will take place on Saturday, May 17 at 11 a.m. at the YMCA’s Association Office (921 Princess Street Wilmington, NC). The second and third workshops will be held at the Nir Family YMCA Community Room (2710 Market Street Wilmington, NC) from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 22 and Wednesday, May 28.
This free membership will give teens access to the Nir Family YMCA and the Midtown YMCA (709 George Anderson Drive, Wilmington, NC) during normal operating hours. Teens will get to enjoy a variety of amenities, including swimming pools, basketball, racquetball, and handball courts, teen fitness classes, free Wi-Fi, indoor games and activities in the YMCA Alley, and more!
“At the Y, we want to create a safe and stable environment for teens to find healthy outlets for stress while also learning, growing, and reconnecting with friends this summer,” said Corey Maarschalk, Vice President of YMCA Youth Services. “We look forward to all of the ways we can continue partnering with Coastal Horizons to meet the physical and mental needs of our community’s next generation.”
