YMCA of Southeastern NC Welcomes Four New Board of Directors
The YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina is proud to announce the addition of four new members to its board of directors: Richard Bober, Kevin McCarthy, Chris Pruneau, and Keith H. Smith. These individuals bring a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to the YMCA’s mission of strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
Richard Bober, with Bald Head Transportation, has a long-standing history with the YMCA. As a child, he was an active participant in the Charlotte Central YMCA’s Saturday morning youth program and a member of the Charlotte Central YMCA swim team. Later, as a father, he engaged in the Y Guides program with his two daughters. In addition to his commitment to the YMCA, Bober is an active volunteer with United States Masters Swimming, North Carolina Masters Swimming, and the Hawks Masters Swim Team.
Kevin McCarthy, managing Principal of Southmark Capital, has been a dedicated YMCA member for over 20 years. His passion for community service extends beyond the Y, as he also volunteers with the Boy Scouts of America. McCarthy brings strong leadership experience and financial acumen to the YMCA’s board, further supporting its mission and strategic goals.
Chris Pruneau, a Principal at WSP USA, has been a dedicated member of the Nir Family YMCA for nearly two decades. He has actively participated in the YMCA’s Masters Swim Program for 18 years and has worked with Y trainers to support his personal wellness journey. His involvement with the YMCA extends to coaching youth sports, including soccer and basketball, as well as serving on the Nir Family YMCA Advisory Board and chairing the Resource Development Committee.
Keith H. Smith, President of KH Strategies, is a lifelong YMCA member with extensive leadership experience within the organization. He previously served as Chair and is a current Executive Committee Member of the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington, D.C. His passion for community service also includes his role as Chair of Council at Harbor United Methodist Church. Smith’s experience in strategic development and governance will be an asset to the YMCA’s board.
