At the Y, we offer a variety of aquatic programs for adults, including Masters Swim, Water Aerobics, Private Swim Lessons and Aquatic Personal Training. Learn more about each of these programs below!
 

 

Masters Swim

Training for a triathlon? Just want to get back into the swim of things? Cape Fear Aquatic Club Masters Swim is a competitive swim program for numerous types of swimmers: beginners, seasoned triathletes, lap swimmers, and those who just want a group workout. We encourage our athletes to travel and compete in Masters Swim meets throughout the state and country.

Through our Masters Swim program, we offer two coached swim practices each week. Practices will have up to 6 lanes for participants to circle swim in our 6-lane pool. Coached practices will run just as a normal swim practice would. Our coaches will help you improve your techniques and push you to become stronger and smarter in the water.

At this time there are two sessions are available: 
 
6:00am-7:00am Tuesdays & Thursdays
7:00am-8:00am Tuesdays & Thursdays

Water Aerobics

Adults looking to challenge themselves without stress on their joints or members who just enjoy the water can take advantage of our different water exercise classes. Instructors lead small groups through water aerobics, core strengthening and much more. Gain muscle conditioning and cardiovascular endurance from the aerobic choreography and water resistance. These classes are ideal for all fitness levels including non-swimmers.

Water Aerobics classes are included in YMCA membership, however, community members are welcome to join if they purchase a day pass.

At the Y, we believe the ability to swim is a critical life skill. In private swim lessons, we use a variety of methods to help you learn water safety, build confidence in the water and develop skills that last a lifetime. Learn to swim one-on-one with an experienced and certified water safety instructor.

Group Swim Lessons for Adults & Teens

Nir Family YMCA Offerings

We are offering group swim lessons for teens and adults, ages 13 and up. These lessons are for beginners and intermediate swimmers who would like to become more comfortable and proficient in the water. Sessions are held monthly. No qualifications are required.

Sessions are held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at the following times:

  • Saturday mornings 7:30am-8:00am (4 classes)
  • Tuesday and Thursday evenings - 6:25pm - 6:55pm (8 classes)

Sampson County YMCA Offerings

We are offering group swim lessons for teens and adults, ages 13 and up. These lessons are for beginners who would like to become more comfortable in the water and learn how to safely exit a body of water in the event of falling in. No qualifications are required.
 
One session includes four 45-minute lessons.
 
Sessions are held every Monday 5:30 - 6:15 p.m. See below for 2025 dates:
  • January 6 - January 27
  • February 3 - February 24
  • March 3 - March 24
