The Halo Hoops Winter League offers a season of exciting games for 5- to 18 -year -olds from December through February. With 2200 players and more than 250 teams playing, you don't want to miss Wilmington's most popular Youth Basketball League!
Halo Hoops offers basketball clinics for kids ages 3-13. Players will learn the basic fundamentals of the game such as dribbling, passing, shooting and team play. Great for beginner and intermediate players.
The Halo Excel Travel Team Program develops young people of excellence through advanced basketball competition. Players learn advanced skills and strategies, face tough competition and learn to play with a Christian perspective. Playing on an Excel team is great preparation for high school basketball. Excel players gain a sense of community and personal responsibility, while being encouraged to excel as leaders both on and off the court.
The Wilmington Police Department and the YMCA have joined forces and are expanding the Police Activities League (PAL) Teen Night Hoops Program to the Midtown YMCA gymnasium. PAL Teen Night is held bi-monthly on Saturday nights for youth ages 13-17 years of age, from 7pm-11pm.
The Wilmington Family YMCA Senior Basketball League(s) provide an atmosphere of fun, friendly competition that allows seniors to experience the joy of organized sports, teamwork and good sportsmanship. The Y now offers both competitive and recreational levels so that anyone age 55+ can play regardless of ability.
Check out our recreational drop-in program is a call-your-own-foul league perfect for those age 55+ who love basketball and just want to have fun. Games are at the same times as the Competitive Level but on the other end of the gym. Teams are mixed up each game so everyone gets to play. Expect a great workout and a socially good time, fun is the name of the game in the recreational level.
The Y opens the gym for Members and Guests to hit the hardwood and shoot some hoops on selected days and times. During Open Gym hours we reserve half the gym for pick-up games and the other half is open for shooting hoops.
