Kids can take their skills to the next level and build confidence in our summer and year-round swim team programs. Swim Team gives kids the opportunity to work on strokes, build endurance and participate in meets in a positive and fun atmosphere. These programs are designed to emphasize teamwork, sportsmanship and personal achievement. Structured groups are divided into 7 training groups by age and skill level. Practices are held a the Nir Family YMCA pool year-round and are taught by qualified swim coaches.
Beginning Monday, June 1st, our YMCA reopened its indoor pools as part of phase 2 in NC's reopening plans. We recently resumed our Cape Fear Aquatic Club swim practices following new safety guidelines provided by our local health department. We ask swimmers and parents to arrive 30 minutes prior to swim start to account for our new screening procedures. During phase 2, locker rooms will not be open for changing/showering. Please come ready to swim. Prior to entering the water, swimmers will be directed to rinse off using the cold water showers on deck.
At this time swim sessions will be limited to 24 swimmers (4 swimmers per lane) to minimize contact with others. More information on our safety guidelines and procedures will be provided to parents and athletes by Coach Scott.
