Children's Dance
The YMCA is proud to partner with the Dance Cooperative to provide enriching dance opportunities for youth in our community. Together, we offer a variety of classes designed to help children build confidence, creativity, coordination, and self-expression in a supportive and welcoming environment. Classes are led by experienced instructors and are available at the Nir Family YMCA and Midtown YMCA for ages 3–12 and all skill levels. Through movement, music, and fun, participants develop new skills while creating lasting friendships and a love for dance.
Nir - Youth Dance - Ballet
Ballet is a classical dance form that is graceful and precise. Ballet employs formalized steps and gestures set in intricate, flowing patterns to create expression through movement. Ballet is the perfect foundation for all dance study. For Level 2 Ballet Dancers must have had one year or prior ballet experience. Our dance program is designed as a **cumulative learning experience**, with each class building on the skills taught in previous weeks. For the best experience and greatest success, we strongly recommend enrolling at the beginning of the season in the fall and remaining enrolled through the final performance in **May 2027**. Monthly tuition is due each month and will automatically draft, and while enrollment is welcome at any time during the school year, students who join later may miss foundational instruction covered earlier in the season. Midtown - Youth Dance - Creative Movement
Creative Movement is for children ages 3 to 6. This class is designed as an introduction to dance. The class will explore movement through music, stimulate students imagination and promote creativity. It will also give them an understanding of the classroom community, improve social skills and develop fine motor skills all while having fun! Our dance program is designed as a **cumulative learning experience**, with each class building on the skills taught in previous weeks. For the best experience and greatest success, we strongly recommend enrolling at the beginning of the season in the fall and remaining enrolled through the final performance in **May 2027**. Jazz (Level 1) is for children ages 7 to 12 and is great for students who are just beginning Jazz or have less than one year in Ballet lessons. Our dance program is designed as a cumulative learning experience, with each class building on the skills taught in previous weeks.
