Our community's health struggles are well chronicled with the rise of obesity, type 2 diabetes, stroke, heart disease, cancer and other life-altering conditions. The Y, in partnership with Novant Health, is dedicated to helping people understand their risks and providing the support they need to fight chronic disease, improve mobility and lead healthier lives. Through our community health programs, the YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina is committed to changing the outcome for people facing significant health challenges and improving quality of life for our whole community.

Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring

This program supports adults with hypertension in lowering and managing their blood pressure to prevent heart disease.

Diabetes Prevention Program

This group-based program, led by a lifestyle coach helps adults with pre-diabetes and have excess weight, achieve 7% weight loss while exploring how healthy eating, increasing physical activity, reducing stress, and problem solving can benefit their health.

EnhanceFitness

An evidence-based exercise program for older adults of all fitness levels that motivates individuals (particularly those with arthritis) to stay active throughout their life.

Healthy Living with Diabetes

Led by a trained and certified Level II Diabetes Educator and Certified Health Coach, this program is designed to provide education and support to participants who have been diagnosed with Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes.

Healthy Weight And Your Child

This program offers guidance with making lifestyle changes to help you and your child (age 7 to 13 with excess weight), develop awareness, improve healthy eating, and discover fun ways to get more active.

Livestrong at the YMCA 

A free health and wellness program designed to help adult cancer survivors reclaim their health. Participants work with Y staff to safely achieve their wellness goals and develop supportive relationships with one another.

The Y's Parkinson’s Exercise classes are designed to empower people with Parkinson's Disease by optimizing their physical function and helping to delay the progression of symptoms.

An evidence-based Tai Chi fall prevention program for older adults.  This program has shown to improve strength, balance, flexibility, and ankle mobility.
