The YMCA is proud to partner with the Dance Cooperative to serve kids and adults through dance! We offer a variety of Dance Classes for participants of various ages and skill levels. Dance classes are taught by experienced Dance Cooperative instructors and are offered at our Nir Family YMCA and Midtown YMCA.

Adult Dance Classes

Our YMCA Dance Program is proudly taught and choreographed by The Dance Cooperative, providing high-quality instruction in a fun, supportive environment. Throughout the season, dancers will build their skills and learn choreography that will be showcased during our Year-End Performance in May. Because each class builds on the previous one, we encourage families to enroll at the beginning of the season and remain registered throughout the year for the best experience and success.

Our dance program is designed as a cumulative learning experience, with each class building on the skills taught in previous weeks. For the best experience and greatest success, we strongly recommend enrolling at the beginning of the season in the fall and remaining enrolled through the final performance in May 2027.

Monthly tuition is due each month on the first, and while enrollment is welcome at any time during the school year, students who join later may miss foundational instruction covered earlier in the season.

Classes run September 2026 through May 2027 and follow the New Hanover County Schools holiday schedule.

Summer Camp

Dance Camp is a high-energy, creativity-packed week where campers ages 7–12 explore a wide world of movement—from Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, and Tap to vibrant folk and social dances like Tinikling, Polish, and Irish Stew. Each day mixes creative movement, improvisation, crafts, and fun games while dancers learn about the art form through watching and discussing performances. Throughout the week, campers build a big choreographic piece, with each style they study making an appearance in the Friday showcase. Led by The Dance Cooperative, this week is the perfect chance for kids to dive into dance, try new styles, and have an absolute blast.
