Leaders Club
Leaders Club is a national YMCA program designed for those who want to make an impact in their schools, in their community and within themselves. This program provides a safe haven for teens to become confident and competent adults as they receive leadership training that enhances their social and emotional growth.
By connecting with adult advisers, teens have role models and mentors who make a positive impact on their lives while teaching them the importance of social responsibility and service within the community. Weekly, they work on leadership skills, physical fitness and volunteer opportunities.

Locations, Days & Times
This year, we will have Leaders Club locations at Ashley High School, Hoggard High School, Laney High School, New Hanover High School, and the Nir Family YMCA. If you are a student at one of the four high schools, we encourage you to sign up for that location. For those in middle school, those who are home schooled, those who attend a different high school, or those who attend one of the high schools but the day and time at your school does not fit your schedule, we encourage you to register for the Nir Family YMCA.
High school locations will operate from the end of the school day until 5pm.
Ashley High School will meet on Mondays in Room 517 with Ms. Coonradt.
Hoggard High School will meet on Thursdays in Room 237 with Ms. Tocci.
Laney High School will meet in Room 234 with Ms. Myers. Day of the week TBD.
New Hanover High School will meet on on Thursdays in Room 202 with Ms. Gargulio.

Activities
The great thing about Leaders Club is that it is student led! On a weekly basis, you should be prepared to workout, develop leadership qualities and plan our next volunteer opportunity. The Y does provide staff that will help guide the group towards a certain direction, and we do have a few planned volunteer opportunities already, but a large part of what we do is up to the kids! Do you want to plan a dance here at the Y for your peers? How about a trip to go white water rafting? The ideas are endless and are up to you! We are here to make it happen!
Benefits
Aside from the fact that Leaders Club will help build your resume and help earn volunteer hours for your college application, Leaders Club will also provide its members with opportunities for leadership training, personal growth, service to others and social development. Leaders Club participants will also receive a FREE YMCA membership for the school year as long as Leaders Club participation requirements are met.
