We offer pickleball at three of our locations: Midtown YMCA, Nir Family YMCA and Ogden YMCA Activity Center.
Pickleball Newbie Clinics
Want to learn the game of pickleball? One hour of instruction and one hour of play and practice. You will learn the basics and be ready to play games. We offer the Newbie Clinics once a month. Cost is $12 members; $18 for non-members.
Pickleball Kids' Clinics
This hour-long clinic introduces your child to the basics of the game of pickleball and will lead into match play. Register for one week at a time. Kids ages 8 - 14 welcome. The Kids Clinics will run twice a month with alternating Saturdays Open Family Play for practice and fun play. Cost is $10 members; $15 for non-members.
Pickleball Skills and Drills Clinics
Improve your game through structured play and practice with 5 fun drills for Intermediate players. Cost is $12 members; $18 for non-members.
Pickleball Private Lessons
Want to learn the game of pickleball? We offer private one-on-one lesson with instructor. Must be preregistered at Welcome Desk. One hour lessons $40; 45 minute lesson $30; 30 minute lessons $20.
YMCA Pickleball Guidelines
In an effort to provide consistency, clarity and continued safety, we have adopted the following guidelines for all three of our YMCA locations:
- All pickleball play will be available by reservation only through our our website or mobile app (we recommend using our app because you will not be required to log in each time). Reservations become available 22 hours in advance. One reservation permitted per day to give others a chance to play. Reservations allow the staff to communicate any closures or changes to the schedule via the email you use for signup. During the summer months and holiday school closures, summer camp and afterschool kids get priority in all Y gymnasiums. If its raining/storming, the session will be cancelled 1 hour before the start time and all reserved players will receive an email notification.
- The number of players per time slot is limited to 6 players per number of courts. If three courts-18 players, four courts 24 players, and so on.
- A waitlist of 2 players will be taken. These players will automatically be inserted into the group if a player cancels and you will receive an email notification if you come off the waitlist and into the group.
- We ask players to promptly finish play at the end of their time slot. This gives staff transition/cleaning time for the next group.
- All pickleball programs will use “paddle stacking rotation.” All 4 players come off the court and stack their paddles in line for the next open court. If group is full, 2 stacks of paddles can be used- a gold (winners) and a silver stack. This helps in keeping even, competitive games.
- Games will be to 11 points, win by 2.
- Reservations will be designated by skill level. A-Advanced 3.5-4.5 B-Intermediate 2.5-3.5 C-Low intermediate & newbies. Click here for skill level definitions.
