Preschool
Available at Nir Family YMCA & Sampson County YMCA
At the Y, we believe that children learn best through play. Our preschool program is for ages 3-5 and is designed to develop children's self-esteem and self-image through learning and sharing in a fun, structured environment.
We follow the ABC Jesus Loves Me curriculum, which is a comprehensive, research-based curriculum that focuses on development, academics, and the Bible. By incorporating learning throughout the day, children will have the opportunity to explore, play, and learn new things.
- Group Playtime
- Bible Stories
- Music & Movement
- Swim Lessons
- Fine & Gross Motor Skill Development
Students will be split into a younger and older classroom based upon age and kindergarten readiness.

Preschool Lunch
On a daily basis, from 12:00 to 12:30, Preschool Students will have the opportunity to eat lunch with friends in a setting that will prepare them for Kindergarten. Please pack a nutritional lunch with your child every day of Preschool. The Y will provide a healthy morning snack.
You're In Good Hands
Staff, as role models, are selected for sound judgment, maturity, experience, enthusiasm, and creativity. All staff is interviewed and goes through a complete background check prior to being hired. Training occurs before Preschool begins and throughout the program to ensure attention to detail. All staff is certified in CPR & First Aid. Our program focuses on encouraging character growth through care, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith. You can be sure that our Y Preschool staff are the heart of the program and are committed to developing these traits through our daily activities, and that all activity areas are well supervised. We maintain a 1:7 (or better) staff-to-child ratio for this age group. By selecting our YMCA Preschool Program, you are investing in a safe, fun, educational, and memorable experience for your child.
Financial Assistance
At the Y, we think fun, new friends, positive role models and great times should be available to every child. That’s why we provide scholarships to families who need help making Preschool a reality.
If your family needs a little help to make Preschool a reality, scholarship forms are available online and are kept completely confidential. Funds are made possible because of the generous donations made through our Annual Giving Campaign.
