Many people within our community often do not learn the critical water safety and swimming skills to keep them safe. The Y is working to address this important issue by offering Swim for Life, a free water safety and swimming program. With so many bodies of water throughout the Wilmington area, it is critical that we provide individuals with the basic knowledge of water safety to reduce the risk of drowning or injury. The Y offers Swim for Life every fall and spring thanks to the generous support of our benefactor Channing Daniel.
Parents please be advised of new modifications to adhere to our state and local policies and guidelines.
We will be requiring a parent in the water for any child that cannot swim completely independently. This is meant to minimize the contact between our instructors, your child, and the other individuals in the program. We will also be sectioning off the pool to provide physical barriers to separate between the different lessons.
Because we are the YMCA - that’s what we do! Our driving mission is to change lives by supporting and connecting with our community, and Swim for Life is just one of the ways we can better serve our community’s needs.
