Wilmington Excel Travel Team
For 11 years the Wilmington Excel Travel Team Program has developed young people of excellence through advanced basketball competition. Players learn advanced skills and strategies, face tough competition and learn to play with a Christian perspective. Playing on an Excel team is great preparation for high school basketball. Excel players gain a sense of community and personal responsibility, while being encouraged to excel as leaders both on and off the court.

Wilmington Excel coaches are experienced volunteer coaches with a strong commitment to young players and their families. They meet periodically throughout the year to continue growing as leaders and develop the program.
Practices and Games
The season runs from March through June. Teams practice 1-2 times a week at a local gym and play in tournaments 2-3 times a month. Tournaments typically consist of pool play on Saturday and bracket play on Sunday.
The participation fee is $290 per player and includes the cost of a shooting shirt, basketball shoes, gym bag, tournament fees, and practice facility rentals. Financial assistance is available to those in need.
Excel parents make a commitment to support their child as well as the coaching staff and players of their team according to program guidelines.
Excel players commit to attending practices and tournaments on a consistent basis. Therefore, they’re not allowed to play on other basketball travel teams. Academically, Excel players are required to maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA.
