New Hanover County Middle School Afterschool Program

The YMCA's Afterschool Program focuses on safety, health, social growth, mental health, physical fitness, and academic enhancement. The Middle School Afterschool program is for students in grades 6-8 attending our Midtown YMCA and Nir Family YMCA and provides a variety of programmatic and activity options to enhance your child’s confidence, enrich his or her social and physical development, explore and develop interests and talents, and encourage self-expression. Upon arrival, we provide snacks and drinks and an area for students to complete homework. From 4:30-5:15pm, students will participate in club activities such as Teen Cuisine, Production, Fashion Design, Soccer, Esports, Martial Arts, Career Readiness, Flag Football, Gardening, College Life, Volleyball, Book Club, Photography, Basketball, Tutoring 101, and more. Pickup is by 6pm.

Additionally, we strongly encourage you to enroll your child in our Leaders Club! When enrolled in the YMCA's Afterschool program, we will ensure that your child transitions from Y After Hours to Leaders Club seamlessly and you can pick your child up at the conclusion on that program on that designated day.

Financial assistance is available.
